New cancer care centre

The Provincial Cancer Care Program is growing!

New Cancer Care Centre in Corner Brook, Western Regional Health Authority Region

A new regional acute care hospital is being built in Corner Brook, NL. This seven-story, 55,741-square-metre 164-bed hospital will be connected to a 145-bed long-term care facility. With this new facility will come new and expanded cancer care services, along with the same services currently provided at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.

The Provincial Cancer Care Program of Newfoundland and Labrador, administered by Eastern Health, works with all regional health authorities to provide screening, systemic therapy, follow-up and supportive care in St. John’s, Gander, Grand Falls and Corner Brook.

Expanded services

The Cancer Care Centre in Corner Brook will provide a second location in the province to host radiation therapy facilities, in addition to systemic therapy services. It will include state-of-the art radiation equipment for the planning and treatment of radiation therapy. The radiation treatment facility is regulated and licensed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission(CNSC).

This capital project is on schedule with the timelines set between the Government of Newfoundland and the Joint Venture between PCL/Marco. To learn more, please visit
